I was released from my mission on the evening of Sunday, February 25th 1990 and I was 21 years old. The first things I had to do were to get a job and buy a car. I knew of a friend, Kendall Ewell, from way back when we lived in Sandy Utah as a kid that worked as an administrator at the Utah Valley Community College campus. I went to speak with him and asked if he knew of any job openings at the college. He made a few phone calls and I had a job in a few days as a custodian making $5.00 hour. I was very grateful and excited for the job and to be able to work on campus. That job provided many opportunities for me later while I attended there. I found a car, 1974 Chevy Chevett that a newly called missionary was selling to enter the MTC. I bought it for $875.00. The Wednesday after my mission release, I headed up to PG High School where I knew the high school ballroom dance team was practicing. I missed dancing and wanted to speak with Elaine Hansen about joining the tem the following semester. It turns out that the college team was practicing that evening and they were one man short. She took one look at me and asked if I was there to dance and I said yes. Bang that was it. I was back in the arms of beautiful women dancing. For some guys coming home from their mission is hard and a culture shock. Not Me. I jumped right in and it was very exciting. They were actually practicing for a dance competition at Rick College in 2 weeks time. They worked with me and I was ready to go by the time we went. We took second place overall which was a great feat.
I continued working and dancing and started attending school the spring quarter. There are many many wonderful frustrating, spiritual and exciting things that happened during this time of my life. I was focused on dancing, singing, school (when I had time) and looking for a wife.
